COMPLETE GARAGE CONVERSION – OXFORD
OUR CUSTOMER BRIEF
Our customer based in Oxford approached us to transform their underutilised garage into a functional and stylish multi-purpose space.
Their vision was to create a bright family room that could double as an entertainment area.
Key priorities included maximising natural light, maintaining energy efficiency, and ensuring the new space blended seamlessly with the rest of their home.
design and planning
Our design phase began with a thorough consultation to understand the customer’s lifestyle, preferences, and specific needs. Based on these discussions, we proposed a design that included:
A well-planned layout, including a main living room area with built-in storage, a bespoke chimney breast with large log fire, and French doors to ensure easy access and smooth flow. To maximise natural light, large energy-efficient windows and French doors were incorporated, creating a bright and inviting space.
High-quality materials were selected, including premium insulation for year-round comfort, durable flooring for longevity with underfloor heating. The aesthetic was carefully chosen to harmonise with the existing home decor, featuring a modern yet warm palette of whites and natural wood tones.
Our team worked closely with the local council to ensure full compliance with building regulations. Detailed plans were developed and approved by the customer before construction began.
Project build & materials
The build was carried out in three key stages, beginning with the preparation phase: we cleared out the garage, levelled the existing floor, and installed underfloor heating.
To transform the garage into a bright, inviting room, we replaced the old garage door with large, double-glazed windows.
French doors, crafted from Sapele hardwood in our Fleet workshop, enhanced accessibility and style.
These doors were expertly spray-painted with UV-protected PU paint to ensure durability and a flawless finish.
The floor we used was a specialist’s type of oak, that has been infested with a fungus also known as fistulina hepatica to give the timber a natural deep brown colour throughout.
The walls were painted in Dulux Natural Calico, neutral tones to create a welcoming atmosphere and enhance light, while high-quality materials, including energy-efficient glazing, moisture-resistant plasterboard, and modern fixtures, were used throughout to ensure a high standard of quality and durability.
Outcome
The completed garage conversion delighted the customer, exceeding their expectations with its bright, functional, and stylish design.
The family now enjoys a comfortable, multi-purpose space perfect for relaxation and entertainment.
Delivered on time and within budget, the project not only enhanced their lifestyle but also significantly increased the value of their home.
