OUR CUSTOMER BRIEF

Our brief was to create an oak framed pergola for our client in Aldershot, Hampshire.

Our customer envisioned transforming their outdoor space into a serene retreat, not for just relaxing but allow them to be able to BBQ throughout the year, regardless of the weather. Within the design, our customer wanted to feature a bespoke glass roof and to incorporate some existing garden features.

From the customer brief provided, Harry, one of our designers was able to draw up a 3D visual of the proposed design ensuring our client knew what the end product would look like. The design incorporated the original planters. Using the planters to house the pillars of the pergola reduced wasted space and in turn created a unique design.

Materials and Methods

The materials used in the build consisted of green oak and Perspex.

Using green oak timber for the pergola structure ensures longevity, durability and provides a rustic aesthetic. The incorporation of the Perspex for the roof allows the natural light to permeate the space but also provides shelter from the elements. We used Axgard Clear 10mm sheets individually installed. The Axgard Clear has an incredibly high impact strength and great light transmission.

Firstly our talented team assessed the existing space, focusing on the existing planters structural foundations. The project involved the positioning of the oak pillars to be in the middle of the original planters.

Once the pillars were fixed and secure, the rest of the frame was erected. The roof was created by sliding the panels into the oak bars and fixing the bespoke oak covers, finishing with the application of the ridge bar and end caps.

The transformation of the outdoor space was a successful project. Through strategic planning and adjustments our team delivered a high standard finish to a pretty unique project pleasing our customer no end.
