OUR CUSTOMER BRIEF

Our customer based in Kingston Upon Thames, Surrey in a charming Victorian-era townhouse, sought to enhance their living space by integrating a full wall, bespoke bookcase. Their vision included not only practical storage but also elegant library lighting to create a cozy reading nook.

Our client’s request comprised of three main components:

Design: To create a custom full bookcase, to work around the existing door and complement the existing interior of the home.

Manufacture: To craft the bookcase out of high-quality material and to have a sprayed colour finish, colour was to be confirmed.

Installation: to include lights to illuminate the shelves and highlight the book collection.

Project Build and Materials

The Design

To achieve a design that harmonises with the existing interior décor and features was a little on the challenging side. Our talented team went back and forth with our client on the different lighting and colours. At fist our customer opted for a very dramatic colour of No 64. Red Earth (F&B) and the use of LED strip lights but after careful reflection, the final colour choice decided was F&B: School House, White and the chosen lights to be library styled lights.

The Manufacture

Once the CAD drawings were signed off by the customer, our team went to work on the construction of the bookcase. The cut list was created and the materials needed were ordered.

Our skilled carpenters crafted each component, paying close attention to every detail. Once all elements were constructed, the 4350mm x 2800mm bookcase was assembled to check for any issues. We find this method minimises error and is less disturbing to our clients when installing. The crafting of the project took place in our workshop in Fleet, Hampshire.

Installation

The installation process involved two of our team and took four days to complete. The bookcase was meticulously finished. The design not only fulfilled the need for practical storage but also now acts as a focal point. The colours chosen seamlessly blends with the surrounding interior décor and creates the illusion of a large, spacious environment.
